According to the rules of fashion, Labor Day Weekend is the last official time where wearing white is appropriate. What do you think...is it acceptable to wear white after Labor Day?

Fact or Fiction?
Eating late at night can cause weight gain.
FICTION

"Being physically active is important for your heart, but you don't have to carve out an hour every day to do it. The American Heart Association suggests at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity at least 5 days a week. Or you can do at least 25 minutes of more vigorous activity 3 days a week. That can be anything like walking, swimming, or biking. You can break it up into 10 or 15 minutes here and there. The goal is just that you move."

Add a multivitamin to your daily health regimen.

People who take a daily multivitamin/mineral supplement have a lower risk of colon cancer and heart disease. And that's not all…the folic acid in your multivitamin is almost twice as absorbable than folic acid found in the food you eat.

Q: My arms, hands, and legs are dry and dull-looking. My hands even have brown spots on them. What is the best way to get soft, glowing skin in these areas while eliminating the embarrassing brown spots?

A: img Treating brown spots on hands and arms is a popular concern today. Daily gentle exfoliation will help to soften and smooth that area; follow by a lightening treatment for best result. Lightening pigmentation is a gradual process, but the results are noticeable and cumulative. Most experts agree that the best and safest way to treat brown spots are non-surgical aesthetic procedures like IPL Photo-facial, Microdermabrasion, and Chemical Peels. We highly recommend Alpha Hydroxyl Peel, a type of chemical peel, a faster way of treating age spots as this technique uses a mild acid that removes the top skin layers and new skin takes its place.

Control cholesterol levels for a healthier, happier you

Want to improve your heart health? Of course, you do! The first step is to recognize that diet plays an important role in cholesterol levels and heart health. Making nutritious food choices can help you feel better and obtain optimal health. Add these foods to your daily regime to give your cholesterol a push in the right direction.

Fiber

Including fiber from whole grains such as bran, oatmeal, brown rice, and quinoa can help improve blood cholesterol levels and lower risk of heart disease, stroke, obesity, and diabetes.

Nuts

Nuts are another flavorsome diet option to improve cholesterol. Eating a small handful of nuts, such as almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, pistachios, and walnuts each day may help lower your risk of heart disease.

Avocados

Avocados are a super food that can improve LDL levels in overweight or obese people. Add them to salads or sandwiches, or even eat them alone or snack on them with raw vegetables. Avocados pack a nutritional punch so include them in your diet often!

Green Tea

Green tea is a much healthier alternative to sodas and sugary beverages. Green tea reduces bad cholesterol, improving the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol. In addition, it helps regulate glucose levels and may protect against the formation of clots…the main cause of heart attacks.

Red Wine

Drink your vino! Drinking one to two glasses of red wine per day may help lower your bad cholesterol while increasing your good cholesterol. That's all we need to know…enjoy!

Beans

Yes... they really are good for your heart. Beans are loaded with fiber, which slows the absorption of cholesterol in specific foods. What does that mean?? Lower cholesterol and a healthier heart! Opt for black, kidney, or pinto beans because each supplies about one-third of your daily fiber needs.

Make these easy adjustments to your diet and we know you will feel stronger and healthier! For more information on lowering cholesterol, check out these sites:
